One of the amazing facts about the 6 Yards of elegance is that the history of the sarees goes long back to 3000 BC. The mention of Sarees is first done in Hindu cultural hymns: Rig Veda. Saree is the cultural attire of women in so many countries in South Asia, followed by India, the list includes Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal just to name a few.

India remains the powerhouse of dying, printing, and silk-weaving sarees. And India remains one of the last handicrafts markets in the world till now. There are almost 30 different regional varieties you can find in hand-weaved sarees in India.

Varanasi- the city situated on the banks of river Ganga; specializes in weaving silk sarees on a wooden handloom, the old style to make Banarasi Silk Sarees. The specialty of this saree is it is usually in bright red color and the hoarder work- zari; is done by a trimmed metallic thread.

This metal could be different, it is copper generally, but at times it could be silver or gold, too. That is the reason why; the Banarasi silk sarees are the pride possessions of the brides, especially in northern parts of India.

There are specialties in every corner of India when it comes to Sarees. There are so many different styles and varieties in color, prints, embroidered work, plain, in the cloth, and even in the way of wearing it.
